Thank you for taking an interest in my Multiple Test/String Replacer tool

About The Tool

VR Multiple Test/String Replacer is a small batch script based tool that helps make it really easy to search and replace lines of text or text strings in any text based file.

It doesn't have to be a .txt file, it can be any file that can be edited with notepad, here's a partial list of file types that can be edited with the tool:

  • Batch Files
  • INI Files
  • TXT Files
  • LOG Files
  • CMD Files (Same as Batch but different extension, can only start under Windows)
  • PS1 Files (Powershell scripts)
  • VBS Files (VBScripts)
  • INF Files (e.g. Autorun.inf)

How To Use

VR Multiple Text/String Replacer uses .ini files for set-up purposes, it comes bundled with a folder named Settings, in which you will find the File Replace.ini.

When you open the Replace.ini file in Notepad (or other similar text editor) you'll notice 3 variables available:

File

OriginalText

NewText

Each of these variables are pretty self explanatory but they are also explained within the contents of the Replace.ini file.

Basically though:

File - The name of the file to edit

OriginalText - The text or string to search within the file

NewText - The new text or string to replace the searched text with.

Now, you may ask why the "Multiple" in the tool name if there's only these 3 variables in the file, that's simple, you want to replace more lines in the same file or in another file completely, just copy the Replace.ini file into a new file called Replace2.ini and set it up in there, repeat for as many times you need changing the number after "Replace" (e.g. Replace3.ini, Replace4.ini, etc.)

That's it, simple as that.

Where To Get

VR Multiple Text/String Replacer (MTSR) is available to download through our WiKi's downloads page via my MEGA.co.nz cloud storage.
