This addendum to the UCC tutorial will teach you how to use the newly added function of UCC V4.1.3.2 Update 2.0 that allows you to add, update & change the FreeArc external compressors in UCC.

IMPORTANT: As of UCC v4.1.3.2 Update 3.0 this option is no longer needed and have been removed, you can now find the Compressor files under the folder [Common\Include\Compressors] for easy editing.

NEW: Adding & Updating Compressors

As of version 4.1.3.2 - Update 2.0 of Ultimate Conversion Compressor you can now edit or update the compressors in UCC.

  1. Download the supplied UCC Arc.ini file (you may want to also download the existing compressors source folder)
  2. Create a new folder named [Compressors] in the same folder where the Converter.exe file is located.
  3. Inside the [Compressors] folder create sub-folders for each compressor you are adding or updating (if you are updating a compressors it is recommended to use the same folder names as in the original source folder download), this should make your folder look something like this: [Compressors\MyCompressor]
  4. Now, place the files of your added/updated compressors inside the appropriate sub-folder you created in the [Compressors] folder (overwrite existing files if updating existing compressors using the source folder download)
  5. Edit the downloaded Arc.ini file to add/update your compressor(s), save the file and place it in the same location with the Converter.exe file.

Please Note: The path to the compressor's executable in the Arc.ini file should not include the [Compressors] folder, only the sub-folder of the compressor within.

    Good Example:
    Lolz\lolz.exe {options} $$arcdatafile$$.tmp $$arcpackedfile$$.tmp

    Bad Example:
    Compressors\Lolz\lolz.exe {options} $$arcdatafile$$.tmp $$arcpackedfile$$.tmp
  6. That's it, All Done!

Notes:

There are a few exceptions to above instructions:

  1. If the compressor you are adding doesn't require an entry in Arc.ini (e.g. A CLS DLL Only Compressor) you will need to place the original, un-edited Arc.ini file you downloaded where the Converter.exe is located, place the compressor's DLL file in the ROOT of the [Compressors] folder.
  2. If you only want to update an existing compressor's Arc.ini entry but not it's files and without adding new compressors you will still need to create the [Compressors] folder, just leave it EMPTY, place the edited Arc.ini with the Converter.exe as usual.

Good Luck!
